Common Wormwood , with scientific name of (Artemisia absinthium), belongs to Asteraceae. In traditional medicine, it is one of the most widely used medicinal plants.
Physical characters
Artemisia Absinthium (Common Wormwood) is a perennial, up to 1.5 cm tall, fragrant, short gray, and bifurcated hairs. A flower stalk 50 to 120 cm tall often develops from the base of a single stem, branching at the tip of the branch. This flower stalk is cylindrical and has shallow grooves. The leaves are petiolate, up to 25 cm long and 1 to 3 times combed. The petiole is the same size or larger than the leaflet, and the leaflet is between the main parts with continuous lanceolate or full or serrated rectangular or acute incisions. The middle leaves of the stem gradually shrink and reach smaller divisions. Inflorescences are narrow panicles with long or short branches that are slightly wider or attached to the axis of the inflorescence. The heaps are numerous, spherical-convex, with or without tails, erect or often decapitated, full of flowers 3 to 4 mm wide. In addition, the mounds are often thin and distant from each other, sometimes close together. Ringer leaflets are almost equal in size on the hairy outer surface. The outer leaves are linear-lanceolate – to three corners, the middle part is green with a membranous margin, and the inner part may be longer and often membranous. The flowers are in the form of panicles, full of hanging yellow flowers.
